Police Blotter: Aug. 26 to Sept. 2

Headstart office burglarized.

A man said someone stole a 1994 white Honda Civic sometime between 10:30 p.m.  Aug. 28 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 29 on the 400-block of Canal Street. The car was entered into the state stolen vehicle system.

A Headstart employee said she had placed a petty cash pouch in a filing cabinet drawer on Aug. 6 at the Greenfield Ave. office. When she checked for the pouch on Aug. 27 at about 6:10 p.m. she found the drawer had been pried open and the pouch containing $185  was missing. 

On Aug. 27, a resident of Isla Vista Lane said his car had been broken into in his carport and several items were missing, including his GPS device. The victim said he had lived in his home for many years and it was always a safe neighborhood. He said that since the Mi Pueblo market opened nearby, the area has become a mess and many unhealthy activities are taking place.

A woman reported that she had parked her 1995 white Dodge Caravan in the parking lot at Northgate mall at about 10 a.m. on Aug. 30. When she returned at about 12:45 p.m., the van was missing. The Dodge was entered into the stolen vehicle system.

At about 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 an employee at the Whole Foods market at 340 Third St. observed a suspect who appeared to be shoplifting. Ayo Dele Carew, 53, who is on probation, was detained by San Rafael Police and taken into custody at Marin County Jail.
