Police Arrest Two Suspected Gang Members

Two men are accused of threatening a man after the victim denied being part of a gang, according to San Rafael police.

Two suspected San Rafael gang members were arrested early this morning, after they allegedly intimidated and assaulted a man walking home from work on 400 Canal Street, according to Officer Justin Graham.

Sergio Reyes, 20, and Cornelio Diaz-Reyes, 23, were booked in on charges of criminal threats and assault with a deadly weapon. Diaz-Reyes was also charged  with assault and battery  and violation of probation.

At approximately 12:50 a.m. Aug. 2, a man told police officers he was punched in the face and threatened with a gun by two men after he denied having any gang affiliation. Police officers found the suspects in the area, Graham said.

The gun one of the suspects used to threaten the victim was a replica firearm.

During the arrest, police officers found drugs on Reyes, and he was charged with possession of a controlled substance in addition to his other charges, according to Graham.

Their bail is set at $50,000 each.
