Police and Fire Beat: Gunman Robs Travel Service

Notable incidents from Sept. 9 to Sept. 12.

Thursday,  Sept. 9

  • At 11:16 a.m. an suspect armed with a black semi-automatic handgun entered Luna Travel at 118 Alto St. and demanded money. A clerk gave the suspect $3,510 in small and large bills. The suspect had his face and upper body completely covered and spoke Spanish. He fled  with the cash.
  • Officers were alerted to a disturbance at Court Street Plaza during the evening farmers market. A suspect with an open container of alcohol who appeared to be intoxicated was taken into custody. Searching the suspect, officers found a dagger in his rear pants pocket and a large hunting knife under his shirt.
  • A resident discovered a small fire on the north side of De La Guerra Road at Santa Margarita Park. He partially extinguished the blaze and notified police. He said he saw a blue sports car leaving the area just before he noticed the fire.

Friday, Sept. 10

  • Two people entered Shaky Grounds Coffee at 1800 Fourth St. and sat on a couch without ordering anything. The owner asked police to remove them from the store. A male suspect was asked for ID.He provided a cannabis card with his name on it. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and booked into Marin County Jail.

Saturday, Sept. 11

  • Shortly after midnight, a victim said she had been injured in a domestic violence incident. A suspect was arrested and booked in Marin County Jail.

Sunday, Sept. 12

  • A suspect believed to be intoxicated was passed out on the rear deck of Marin Alano Club at 1300 Lincoln Ave.
