One DUI Arrest at Check Point

Seven arrested and released on other violations.

One person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and seven were arrested for other violations at a check point on the 100-block of Andersen Drive Friday night, police said.

The screening began at 6 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m. Saturday during which time 982 vehicles passed through. A total of 23 field sobriety tests were performed.

In addition, four drivers were arrested, cited and released for driving with suspended licenses, two were arrested, cited and released for possessing cannabis while in a motor vehicle, and one was arrested and booked on an outstanding warrant, San Rafael Police said.

They said 21 unlicensed drivers were cited, eight moving violations were issued and 24 vehicles were towed.

The check point was funded with state and federal grants.
