Old Motorhome Goes Up in Flames

Smoke seen for wide area when unoccupied 30-footer burns on Front Street in San Rafael.

doused flames that destroyed an unoccupied 30-foot motor home Saturday afternoon on the city's east side.

Smoke was visible throughout the area at about 3:30 p.m. when a San Rafael Fire Department crew arrived on Front Street, between Harbor and Hoage, said Battalion Chief Jim Lydon. No occupants of the vehicle were around and nobody was injured, he said.

The fire started in the driver's compartment and was contained to that area, but water and smoke damage rendered the vehicle a total loss, Lydon said.
