Friday night's DUI checkpoint resulted in no arrests for drunken driving, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
The checkpoint, which was conducted at the intersection of Manuel T Freitas Parkway and Las Gallinas Avenue, ran from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. With 1,286 vehicles passing through the checkpoint, 33 field sobriety tests were given and none of the drivers' blood alcohol limit was above the legal limit of .08 BAL.
One of the drivers had a $15,000 misdemeanor warrant for prostitution from San Bernardino County. Two drivers operating with suspended licenses were arrested. Eleven unlicensed drivers were contacted, cited and released and two vehicles were towed.
This kick off operation is part of the on-going traffic safety effort over the period of August 17 to September 3. Checkpoints, strike teams and other DUI directed enforcement activities will take place daily throughout this period to promote public safety.
