Montecito Computer Store Damaged in Fire Hopes to Reopen Soon

A soldering iron is suspected of causing a fire at a computer sales and service business in the , San Rafael Fire Chief Chris Gray said.
The heat-producing tool, which was on a workbench, might have been left on, Gray said.
Trader Joe's workers at the shopping center, located at 315 Third St., reported smelling smoke around 3:30 a.m., Gray said.

Arriving firefighters found a fire burning at . Smoke from the blaze was spreading to adjacent businesses, Gray said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.

Fire officials said the computer store and other businesses at the center are not equipped with automatic fire sprinklers.
No injuries were reported.
A man answering the phone at Applied Computer Technology this morning said a cleanup is under way and that he hopes to reopen the store soon. He said customers can still call and make appointments.
