Man Faces Charges of Drug Possession, Domestic Violence

Officers locate suspect on a bike about a quarter mile from where a fight took place.

A physical altercation between a San Rafael couple Saturday morning led to the husband's arrest on five felony charges, four of them related to drugs, police said.

An emergency call was made at about 8:30 a.m. about a possible domestic violence incident in progress in the Canal neighborhood, San Rafael police Sgt. Roy Leon said. The woman said her husband had pushed her, hit her and pulled her hair before he took off on a bike, Leon said.

About 10 minutes later, the man was spotted about a quarter mile away in the 200 block of Playa del Rey and detained without incident. Police accepted the man's statement about the altercation, then searched him. During that process, several baggies of suspected methamphetamines and cocaine were found, Leon said, leading police to believe the drugs were for sale.

Damien Peralta, 35, of San Rafael faces possible charges of inflicting injury on a spouse and four counts related to drug possession. His bail was set at $25,000.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
