Man Accused of Trying to Rape Food Delivery Woman

The victim was able to escape and locate police after a man attempted to rape her Wednesday night.

San Rafael police officers arrested a man accused of trying to rape a woman who was delivering food to his house Wednesday night, according to officer Justin Graham.

Fermin Mejia-Hernandez, 38, was booked in on charges of attempted rape and assault, as well as a misdemeanor warrant for a DUI. His bail is set at $100,000.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 14, the victim was delivering food to the 3600 block of Kerner Boulevard when Mejia-Hernandez forced her on the couch where he tried to rape and sexually assault her, according to Graham.

The victim was able to defend herself and escape. She reported the incident to police officer, who located  Mejia-Hernandez at his home and arrested him.

The victim was not injured during the attack, Graham said.
