Man Accused of Threats, Petty Theft at United Markets

A 52-year-old San Rafael resident was arrested after he allegedly threatening United Markets employees with a knife.

San Rafael police officers arrested a man accused of unsheathing a knife outside on Monday afternoon.

Donald James Allen, Jr., 52, was booked in on suspicion of possessing and exhibiting a dangerous weapon, petty theft and violation of probation. His bail is $50,000.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, Allen was spotted eating food inside United Markets on Third Street without paying, according to police spokesperson Margo Rohrbacher. When security escorted him outside, Allen told the security guard that he was going to kill someone, unsheathed a knife and threatened United Markets employees standing approximately eight feet away.

Police arrived and found Allen across the street at the CVS Pharmacy, where he was taken into custody.
