Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Roommate

A woman told police that her roommate sexually assaulted her on five separate occasions.

After enduring weeks of alleged sexual assault, a woman reported to San Rafael police that her roommate threaten to hurt her children if she did not have sex with him.

The 29-year-old suspect was booked in early Tuesday morning after his female roommate told police he sexually assaulted her on five separate occasions, police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

The first incident occurred in the beginning of March, when the suspect allegedly drugged the victim and she woke up in his bed, Rohrbacher said.

During the next weeks, the suspect threatened to hurt the victim’s two children, who were living with her in their Belvedere Street apartment, if she did not comply with his sexual advances. The two were not involved in a romantic relationship before the assault occurred, and the last incident happened 15 days ago, according to Rohrbacher.

“Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore and she came in to the police station,” she said.

The suspect was booked on felony charges of rape, oral copulation, violation of probation, criminal threats and sexual battery. His bail is $50,000.
