Local Man Suspected of Raping 17-year-old Girl

A 38-year-old San Rafael resident is accused of forcible rape, false imprisonment, sexual battery and penetration with a foreign object.

San Rafael police arrested a local man suspected of raping a 17-year-old girl, police spokesman Charly Taylor said.

Maco Maudilio Zacaria Garcia was booked into on suspicion of forcible rape, false imprisonment, sexual battery and penetration with a foreign object. His bail was set at $500,000.

The 38-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday night in an apartment near the 200 block of Canal Street. The alleged crimes took place several times over the summer and the most recent incident was this month, Taylor said.

Authorities said the victim and the suspect were acquaintances, but they would not release any details about their relationship or where the crimes took place.
