Four Suspects Arrested After Gang Confrontation at Northgate Mall

A gang-related confrontation at Northgate Mall Friday escalated into road rage.

Marin deputies and San Rafael police arrested three men and one minor on Friday after a gang-related confrontation escalated into road rage, according to Lt. Barry Heying.

San Rafael residents Rony Estuardo Cifunentes-Lopez, 18, and Jackson Rulaman Diaz, 21, were booked in on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal conspiracy and participation in a gang-related crime. San Pablo resident Oblido De Jesus Rodas, 21, and a minor were also arrested and booked.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, authorities received reports of someone in a grey vehicle shooting a pellet gun other another car on Los Ranchitos Road.

The altercation began at between the two groups when gang signs were flashed and the chase ensued. The two parties, one driving a silver Volkswagen and the other a maroon Mazda, had a minor collision on Los Ranchitos and Golden Hinde, according to Heying.

“Gang officers believe the involved persons have associations with rival gangs,” he said.

Authorities stopped the Volkswagen on Highway 101 near the northbound Marinwood exit and the Mazda near Lincoln Ave.

No one was injured in the incident.
