Firefighters Snuff Car Fire on US-101

The cause of a vehicle fire is under investigation.

San Rafael firefighters snuffed a vehicle fire on US-101 near the Sir Francis Drake exit this morning, according to Fire Chief Chris Gray.

At approximately 11 a.m. firefighters responded to a passenger's report of their vehicle on fire, located on the right sholder of the southbound lane just north of the Sir Francis Drake exit. After reporting the incident, the passenger safely left the scene and waited for firefighters near the freeway exit, Gray said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire before it could spread further or cause more damage, according to Gray. California Highway Patrol and the fire department worked together to limit traffic congestion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

"With the rain and slick roadways over the New Year’s holiday, motorists are cautioned to be extra careful and patient while driving," Gray said.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
