Firefighters Snuff Blaze South of Marin Civic Center

The cause of the fire, which singed a quarter of an acre, is under investigation.

San Rafael authorities extinguished a fire in the hills south of the Marin Civic Center Sunday afternoon, according to Battalion Chief Jim Lydon.

Firefighters received reports of flames on Scettrini Fire Road around 3:55 p.m., but was contained within the hour, Lydon said. The fire singed a quarter of an acre, and the cause is under investigation.

Several drivers saw the smoke from Highway 101. Edie Tanem Morales commented the San Rafael Patch Facebook fan page that “a bad plastic smell” lingered after the balze was doused.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
