Firefighters Douse House Fire Near Downtown

Crews forced their way into a one-story home on Tamalpais Ave., removed a resident and put out a fire that started in the fireplace, officials said.

Firefighters were able to safely remove a resident and quickly put out a fire at a home in San Rafael Friday night, fire officials said.

Crews responded to a report of a structure fire at 1215 Tamalpais Ave. at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, according to fire officials.

The firefighters forced entry into the one-story home and found one person who they removed, officials said. The resident was treated and transported to a hospital.

The fire started by the fireplace of the home and was spreading but crews quickly put it out before it reached the living room, according to officials.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to officials.
