Fire in Multi-Unit Building Limited to One Apartment

Cause under investigation by San Rafael Fire Department.

A woman occupant and a firefighter were injured in a fire shortly after midnight in a multi-unit apartment building at 1323 Lincoln Ave. Monday.

According to Chief Christopher Gray, the fire in apartment eight was heavily engulfed in  smoke and flames when firefighters arrived under the command of Battalion Chief Jim Lydon.

The occupant suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to Marin General Hospital. In addition, a firefighter was hit in the face by a piece of equipment, causing a nearly four-inch laceration, Lydon said. The firefighter was taken to Marin General and treated and released.
