Vessel Company Will Recover Stranded Boat When Tide Rises

The San Rafael Fire Department helped a sailboat that ran aground Thursday night.

A vessel salvage company will recover a boat that ran aground near San Pablo Bay Thursday night once the tide rises later this afternoon, a U.S. Coast Guard dispatcher said.

The San Rafael Fire Department responded this morning to the sailboat when its occupant reported he was in distress, officials said.

The fire department checked on the boater's well-being, but the water was too shallow for the Coast Guard to assist, the dispatcher said.
