Elderly Man Suffers Minor Injuries After Overturning Car

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on San Geronimo Valley Drive.

By Bay City News

An elderly man suffered minor injuries when he overturned his vehicle in Marin County Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 8:30 a.m., when 71-year-old Leon Kunstenaar of Woodacre was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Passat on the eastbound lanes of San Geronimo Valley Drive, east of Park Drive, CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said.

The car's tires were on the road's dirt shoulder and Kunstenaar attempted to center his vehicle back on the road, according to CHP.

The car overturned, going into the westbound lanes and crashing into a tree, Hohmeister said.

Paramedics transported him to Marin General Hospital after Kunstenaar complained of pain on his hip and knees.

San Geronimo Valley Drive was briefly closed to tow the vehicle and transport Kunstenaar to the hospital, according to the CHP.

Hohmeister said no other cars were involved and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
