CHP Arrest Man Who Sped Through Closed Lanes on Highway 101

A San Francisco man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he allegedly drove up to 80 mph in coned-off construction lanes on southbound U.S. Highway 101.

A San Francisco man was arrested for driving under the influence after he allegedly drove up to 80 mph in coned-off construction lanes on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County early Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Ross Piccinini, sped past two CHP officers who were stopped in a Caltrans construction zone near the Richardson Bay Bridge north of Marin City at about 1:40 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Hohmeister said.

Piccinini was driving his 2001 BMW 3 Series sedan within the coned-off lanes, Hohmeister said. As the first CHP unit tried to catch up to him, the BMW sped past two additional CHP units near Rodeo Avenue at 75 to 80 mph, Hohmeister said.

The CHP officers continued to follow the BMW, pulled it over at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza and determined that Piccinini was intoxicated, Hohmeister said.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Hohmeister said.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
