Drugs and Alcohol Allegedly Found on Teen Driver

A 17-year-old suspect was cited and released after CHP found marijuana and alcohol in her car early Wednesday morning.

A 17-year-old San Rafael girl was arrested and then cited and released on suspicion of drunken driving early Wednesday morning after California Highway Patrol observed her weaving on Highway 101, according to CHP spokesman Eric Holmeister.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., CHP noticed the suspect driving a white Ford Bronco northbound on 101 near the North San Pedro exit. The car was weaving out of its lane and onto the right shoulder ahead of the CHP vehicle before they pulled her over.

"The officers noticed objective symptoms of intoxication on the driver and they determined through a DUI investigation that she had been driving under the influence of alcohol," Hohmeister said in a release.

She was placed under arrest, and CHP officers found a marijuana bong, two bottles of bourbon and a small amount of marijuana concealed in a backpack in the Ford.

"The driver was then cited and released to a parent for misdemeanor DUI, minor in possession of alcohol in a vehicle and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana," Hohmeister said.
