Driver Dies Following Morning Crash on 101

Timothy Brown, who worked in San Rafael, is believed to have suffered a medical emergency as he was driving.

The driver in a solo vehicle accident this morning on Southbound Highway 101 has died, probably as the result of a heart attack.

The driver, identified as Timothy Brown, 52, of Petaluma, was pronounced deceased at according to a statement released by the California Highway Patrol.

Brown was an insurance agent with Allstate in San Rafael, and was apparently on his way to work.

According to his Facebook page, Brown wanted to motorcycle to far away places and camp in his popup tent trailer. 

At approximately 8:15 a.m, CHP officers responded to a call of a collision on southbound 101 at Petaluma Blvd South. The vehicle had veered off the highway and come to rest on the side of the road, according to the CHP.

Emergency medical personnel arrived immediately, extracted the driver and began CPR. He was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The accident temporarily backed up traffic on the highway, according to the Press Democrat, but the lane was cleared by 8:30 a.m.
