Deputies Chase Robbery Suspects to Petaluma

After a high speed chase from China Camp to Petaluma, sheriff's deputies arrested two robbery suspects.

Marin sheriff’s deputies arrested two men suspected of robbery after chasing them from to Petaluma earlier today, according to Lt. Barry Heying.

Jerry Campbell, 33 of Alameda and Sherman Dunn, 39, of Oakland are awaiting booking for robbery, reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon and failure to stop for peace officers.

At approximately 1:58 p.m. at China Camp, a woman reported that two men grabbed her backpack and fled in a white Ford van, Heying said. When two Marin County Department of Public Works employees attempted to stop the van by blocking the road with their truck, the suspects rammed into them and fled down North San Pedro Road.

Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers pursued the van northbound on Highway 101 at approximately 90 mph to Petaluma. The suspects eventually lost control of their car and rolled over into a field at East Washington Boulevard around 2:20 p.m. Before that, they also struck a sheriff’s vehicle in a parking lot, according to Heying.

After the suspects were treated for minor injuries at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, they were taken into custody. Other than the suspects, no one was injured in the incident.
