The Marin County coroner's office identified the man found floating in Richardson Bay last month as 51-year-old Greer Cavagnaro Jr.
The cause, manner and circumstances of Cavagnaro's death are still under investigation, Lt. Keith Boyd said.
Cavagnaro had no known residence, Boyd said. His body was found at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 28 near Strawberry Point.
