Erratic Driving Leads to Arrest on Pot Charges

Erratic driving along Highway 101 in San Rafael led to a Mountain View woman being stopped and arrested for transporting marijuana.

Sloopy Clarice Barreau, 58, was pulled over early Sunday morning on Highway 101 northbound just beyond Lincoln Avenue when a California Highway Patrol officer said she was weaving and driving erratically.

CHP Officer Chris Rardin said the officer noticed a strong smell of marijuana when he approached the car and found about 1,200 grams, more than two-and-a-half pounds, inside the car.

Barreau was booked in Marin County Jail on suspicion of felony marijuana cultivation, felony possession of marijuana for sale, felony transportation of marijuana and two misdemeanor counts. She is scheduled to return to court Aug. 17 to set a preliminary hearing.
