The cause of the early-morning fire is under investigation.

Firefighters and law enforcement officials found a body in ashes and debris after a fire nearly completely destroyed a small structure in Cascade Canyon near Fairfax early Friday morning.

Someone reported flames and smoke around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 30 and officials located a burning structure at the end of a long dirt driveway off Meadow Way.

Firefighters carried 700 feet of hose from the road to reach the 20-foot by 35-foot structure. The body was found around 2:30 a.m.

The Marin County Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the fire.

The identify of the victim has not been released, nor has information on the approximate age or gender, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
