Baseball Bat Beating Lands Marin Man Behind Bars
Man arrested in Novato is facing attempted murder charges for a February incident in San Rafael.
A man who allegedly beat a San Rafael man with a baseball bat last month was arrested March 8 in Novato on suspicion of attempted murder.
Jose Marco May-Santamaria allegedly hit a 34-year-old San Rafael man multiple times with a baseball bat in the parking lot in front of Le Selva taqueria, at 555 Francisco Blvd, on Feb. 23. The victim sustained major injuries and was hospitalized, according to San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher.

May-Santamaria allegedly kept hitting the victim in the head after he was on the ground, Rohrbacher said.
The victim’s friends helped the police track down May-Santamaria, Rohrbacher said.

May-Santamaria , who has an address out of San Rafael, was arrested Friday morning at residence on Romar Court in Novato and was booked in lieu of $500,000. His occupation is listed as “cook” in the Marin County Jail booking log.
Police told the Marin Independent Journal the crime did not appear to be gang related.
