Agencies Investigate Death of Baby at Child Care Facility

A 4-month-old boy was found unresponsive at a child care center.

Law enforcement agencies in Marin County continue to investigate the Oct. 23 death of a 4-month-old baby boy at a San Rafael children's center, according to the Marin County coroner's office.

The cause and manner of the boy's death are pending, said Lt. Keith Boyd of the coroner's office.

At about 5 p.m. Oct. 23, the coroner's office responded to Kaiser hospital in Terra Linda to look into the death of the boy, who had been found unresponsive at the Magic Place Children's Center at 1055 Las Ovejas Ave. After being rushed to the hospital by San Rafael paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at 4:21 p.m. that day.

Boyd said a forensic examination took place the next day, but results are not being released.

The coroner's office is being assisted in the investigation by the San Rafael Police Department and the State of California Community Care Licensing Division.

Claudia Gil, owner of the day care center, told the Marin Independent Journal that the baby was asleep for about three hours and "never woke up."

"That's the worst nightmare. You never, ever expect something like that," she told reporters.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
