So, How Are We Doin'? Grade San Rafael Patch

We get our fair share of criticism — constructive and otherwise. But I'm curious to know if we're meeting your needs and what we can be doing better.

San Rafael Patch has been making the rounds of local service clubs, business networking groups and schools in an attempt to reach out and establish real-world connections with our thousands of daily readers. Lots of questions from the public have been answered about the website, which turned 2 years old this June.

Now we ask you some questions: Are we getting you news you don't get elsewhere? Are we getting it to you in a timely fashion? What part of San Rafael Patch do you like the most? The least? (We can take it, gulp, really).

It is apparent we have an established following, and that you are a discerning, intelligent bunch. I'd like to know your thoughts on how we can give you even more of what you need in the course of your day — and no, we're not going to add a door-to-door bagel and latte delivery service. The model doesn't work that way.

But if there's anything else you think we should be doing, let me know in comments or email me at nicole.ely@patch.com.

I have to give the Patch a mediocre score. There is not enough local news. Mostly a lot of "puff" pieces .I was hoping to be able to use the Patch as a local news source, much like the old hometown newspapers used to be or those old morning radio shows. Yes, I'm that old, so maybe what I want and need is no longer relevent. But I thought being connected was what the immediacy of the internet was all about. When I am out and about I will see something happen and think "well, I 'll find out about it on the Patch" but no, nothing ever seems to happen in the Patch world, unless it is an event that pays for advertising.

I travel a lot so love having updates from San Rafael Patch to enjoy on my computer. I don't expect to have a full newspaper report from this web site but it is nice to hear what is happening "back home" while I'm gone. I happen to like the "puff" pieces so guess I'm that shallow kind of gal. I love the "opinion" articles and the short "vote" surveys; gives me an insight into what others in town are thinking.

Thank you for your feedback Patricia and Cynthia! We try to satisfy our readers desire for both local news and those lighter pieces. I'll keep your comments in mind for future coverage.
