High Schoolers Tackle Sustainable Business
Robin Joy Berenson gave shout out to San Rafael High School students who participated in a pilot program for their Spring Sustainability Symposium.
On May 2, over 50 ninth graders presented panel discusions about corporate sustainability. They role played as the CEOs, environmentalists, laborers and consumers of five different industries: Target vs. Walmart, Bath & Body Works vs. Burt's Bees, Apple vs. Microsoft, Chevron vs. Tennessee Valley Authority and Trader Joe's vs. Whole Foods.
She wrote:
"They wrestled with the question: 'How can a corporation make money and be sustainable - environmentally sustainable while implementing equitable labor practices and protecting the consumers well-being?' Wow, what inspiring students and inspired teachers!"
Transit Gets Googled
Transportation blogger David Edmondson congratulated Marin's local tranportation for their recent accomplishment. "It's about a month late, but CHEERS to Golden Gate Transit and Marin Transit for getting onto Google Maps!" he wrote. "Finally we can get from A to B in the Bay Area without using 511.org."
