Rants: Not Enough Vegan Options in San Rafael?

Something getting you down? Tell us about it.

Vegans/Vegetarians Need More Dining Options

For several weeks since our What Do You Wish Was Here? column was first launched, several readers dream of a vegan or vegetarian restaurant to move in some of the store fronts recently left vacant.

Melissa Bradley wrote:

I eat mostly vegetarian and yes, it would be great to have more choices. There is the vegan restaurant in San Anselmo called Cafe Gratitude. It's fine, and I eat there some times, but it would be so wonderful to have additional options as far as restaurants in San Rafael, and mostly or all vegetarian would mean a lot of choices on the menu. I would eat there if they opened one that had good food and service. Does anyone out there want to do it?

Do you think there are enough vegan/vegetarian options in San Rafael? Tell us below.

Pension Reform

Patch reader Janna Nikkola questioned the City Council's approach to pension reform. She wrote:

How about a resolution stating the City of San Rafael will not be responsible for "stock market losses" caused by investment decisions made by pension fund trustees and investment advisers? How about a resolution stating public employees will be required to govern and monitor their own pension fund to ensure funds are invested in safe, secure investments? How about a resolution that the taxpayers are not responsible for pension fund losses and will not make up for losses suffered as a result of "stock market losses" and investment decisions made by pension fund trustees and investment advisers?

So, what’s making you upset this week

We’re offering a forum here this week to give everyone a chance to weigh in on the topics you choose. That’s right, we’re not asking you to wait for the topic to come up in one of our articles. Go ahead and get the conversation started right here.

Sure, we’d like the topics to be locally-focused, but go ahead and jump in with any thought you have that you believe will start up a good, civil online community discussion.

Please keep it clean and refrain from personal attacks and/or name-calling. Address the issue without attacking the person and we’re all good to go.

So, what are you waiting for, let your ideas fly!

Feeling positive? What if you have something positive to say, someone you want to praise?

It would be nice if the comments section had "Thumbs up / Thumbs down" like the PressRead More Democrat.

We have been to Pet Emergency a few times with various animals over the years, and they areRead More absolutely FANTASTIC! Top quality medical care, and a very caring and compassionate staff. I can't say that I look forward to going there (sick pets are always difficult), but I am sure glad they are here for us when we need them!
