San Rafael Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to San Rafael who passed away recently.

Christopher Andrew Arens, a San Rafael resident, was born in 1967 in Livonia Mich. Arens served four years in the United States Air Force before completing a degree in electronics from Heald College. He worked in motorcycle sales and was a radio-controlled aircraft enthusiast. Arens died of cancer on Nov. 2. He was 46.

Olga Altagracia Tello Banducci was born in Mexico in1929 and lived in many parts of Marin County before spending the last years of her life in San Rafael. She often said “Enjoy the life!” and by all accounts followed her own advice. She was an accomplished horsewoman and certified SCUBA diver who enjoyed tennis, swimming. She also loved playing poker. Banducci died on Nov. 7. She was 84.

Juliet (Julie) Bobo was born in Alabama in 1926. She moved to California to work at Mare Naval Shipyard where she met Elwood Bobo, whom she married in 1945. She later married Fred Jensen, a former San Rafael City Council member. Bobo worked as a caterer for Red Robin for 25 years. Her passions included sewing and gardening, and family was her top priority. Bobo died on Nov. 1. She was 87.

Mark Churchill was born on Mare Island in 1951. He hit the road after graduating from San Rafael High in 1969. He loved the outdoors and the open road. He was employed as a professional truck driver who loved traversing America’s highways. He died in a big rig accident near Avenue of the Giants on U.S. Highway 101 on Oct. 24. Churchill has 62.
