No on Measure F

·      Despite the fact that Marin ranks dead last with the lowest number of inpatient psychiatric beds among all Bay Area Counties, they will not use 1 cent of the $394 million raised by Measure F to alleviate this crisis.

 ·      Marin General has only 17 psych beds to serve a population of more than 250,000. That’s why 50% of Marin residents needing emergency psych services have to be transported out of county or turned away.

 ·      When someone is turned away because of a lack of beds, there is a very real possibility that they may harm themselves, end up incarcerated or homeless.

 ·      They even refuse to do any seismic retrofitting on the psychiatric wing of the hospital.  After the new buildings are complete there will be separate and unequal treatment of medical patients and mental health patients.

 ·      Marin General has until 2030 to meet the legal requirements to bring the hospital in compliance with earthquake standards.  This is not about seismic retrofitting, not at $394 million. It’s about building a new, much larger hospital to maximize profits and put the business risk on Marin residents.

 ·      Please vote no on F and send them back to the drawing board so they will include those struggling with mental illness in their plans.
