Life is Good in the Canal

Life in the Canal is a shining example of love and care for our 'little people' as one day they we be our future.

San Rafael's Canal area–have you ever really been there? For a neighborhood that is jam packed with many nationalities, we do pretty well. I have lived here for over 30 years. Yes, we have a few "gangsters" but most areas have a few bad guys. We have a few.

I prefer to look at the good we have here. Thanks to our civic leaders, we have a first class Pickleweed Park Center, computer room, sports room, library, police station, and I remember when I was there to be a voter's clerk, I looked all around and was amazed at what I saw that day! We have top notch glass walls, a super clean facility for all activities under the sun.

As a crossguard, it is nice to know the children, especially girls and boys at our school. Due to the parents and staff wishes, wear uniforms. I love it in the mornings when these children are so spotlessly clean, hair fixed so cute, braids, pony tails, and the boys in Mohawks or attemps at one. Smile.

I cross some of  the cream of the crop here, they are polite, they adore their parents, they are full of good old fashioned manners. I love my job, they make it wonderful to be outdoors, and I watch as the good parents help me attend to their safety, the concern on their faces, the cute little babies almost all wave at me, the one little girl who brings me a wild flower most days. What could be better ? Life is good in the Canal.

Despite the problems, the people here are cordial and friendly. Moms and dads too, kiss their little ones each day, and I marvel at their "close family ties." They homogenize well here. We try to get along and see to it that our children are well cared for at Bahia Vista.
