Fairfax’s Vivienne Harr Makes a Stand on Wall Street

The 9-year-old Make a Stand CEO's fight to eradicate childhood slavery gets international attention after she rings the open bell for Twitter's IPO on Wall Street on Thursday.

A 9-year-old Fairfax girl went to the heart of the world’s financial capital on Thursday.

And according to just about every media account, Vivienne Harr absolutely crushed it.

Make a Stand’s pint-sized CEO was selected along with actor Patrick Stewart and Boston Police Department's Cheryl Fiandaca to drop the hammer on the iconic opening bell in place of Twitter co-founder Biz Stone on the day that marked his company’s IPO according to published reports.

Harr, who parlayed a tiny lemonade stand and a dream of eradicating childhood slavery into a global company in support of her cause, credits Twitter with helping her advance her message.

She wrote a note to Stone that’s made it’s way around the web via Instagram that reads:  “Thank you for inviting me to your so special day!! Tha you also for Twitter! Because (with twitter) you don’t have to be big or powerful to change the world. You can be just like me!!”

Stone describes the not on his Instagram page as “A treasure from little Vivienne Harr who rang the opening bell for $TWTR this morning.” 

Harr’s Wall Street performance has drawn international media attention. She’s featured in articles on Business Insider, Tech Crunch and the Daily Telegraph, among other outlets.
