(San Rafael) The Iraqi Student Project at Dominican University of California will host “Prayers for Peace” with Sylvia Boorstein on Saturday, February 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the Veritas Interfaith Center at the new Dominican Heritage and Alumni House in Edgehill Mansion, 75 Magnolia Avenue.

The meditation and prayer for peace service will commemorate the eighth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq and the trauma of violence, displacement and insecurity that has continued to devastate the lives of the people of Iraq.

Sister Carla Kovack will begin the service with an introduction before Boorstein,  a Buddhist teacher and co-founder of Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, conducts the meditation and prayer for peace and serenity for all who are suffering around the world.

 A question-and-answer session will follow at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Suggested donations -- $20 for visitors, $5 for Dominican students – will be accepted at thedoor. All proceeds will go to support the Iraqi Student Project (ISP).  The ISP is a grass-roots effort to help young Iraqi refugees acquire the education they need to participate in rebuilding their country. To this end, The ISP seeks the help of American colleges to offer these students that which the United States does very well: excellent undergraduate education.
