Day of the Dead - A Day of Remembrance

A Day of Remembrance: in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in memory of those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived and connecting those who work to end violence in Marin County. The event includes many celebratory elements of the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead, such as a reading of the names of the victims of domestic violence as well as a bread ceremony.

Community members are invited to participate as compassionate witnesses. All those who have lost a loved one to domestic violence are invited to bring a photograph or a memento for the “Reading of the Names” ceremony. The ceremony will be a time of reflection, memory and honoring and the photograph or symbol will remain on the ceremonial table for one week.
