Best known as the other guitarist in Robben Ford’s band, Volker Strifler has proven his mettle as a guitarist and singer on the Northern California circuit and in Europe. Those requiring any convincing will find all they need in the funky Allman Brothers-like opening track "Going to Brownsville" from his new CD Let the Music Rise. His sound is filled with splendid horns and keyboard, recalling a range of styles from breezy "redemption" blues to indie-rock gusto.
