Using the Whole Vegetable Cooking Demonstration & Book Signing

The amount of delicious, nutritious vegetables available at the Marin Country Mart Farmers’ Market can often result in a problem: food waste, from the trimmings, peelings and discarding. Luckily, Tara Duggan will be visiting the farmers’ market on Saturday, September 21st from 10:30-11:30 am, to demonstrate how to cook one of her delicious recipes. Tara is the author of Root-to-Stalk Cooking: The Art of Using the Whole Vegetable, in which she describes how to utilize every part of a plant. With a glossary of over 65 recipes, the cookbook explains what to do with everything from carrot tops to chard stalks. With everything from Herb-Citrus Butter to Pan-roasted Cauliflower Steaks with Tomatoes and Capers, Root-to-Stalk Cooking will solve your food waste problem and get you to love vegetables even more. Tara is a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle and has received a James Beard Foundation Award for food journalism. The demonstration will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. under the big farmers’ market tent, followed by a book signing at Diesel Books from 11:30 to 12:30.
