The Janus Gate: Entering the New Year --- A Friday Night Taster

Janus, the ancient Roman god of gates, doors and new beginnings, is a double-faced god that looks to the future and the past. In this night’s taster we will use psychodrama and other expressive arts to look behind and move ahead, as we pass through the Janus gate. 

Psychodrama?
Psychodrama is an experiential method of exploring our private and public worlds in a multi-dimensional, creative way. It helps people safely express unexpressed feelings, develop insight and find and practice new, desired behaviors. Psychodrama encounters people where they are in the present, and assists them in contacting and developing the best that is within them. As a natural outgrowth, people experience a deeper connection and appreciation of others. Psychodrama emphasizes creativity and spontaneity rather than illness and pathology.
 
Tasters?
Tasters are open Friday night events held monthly to give you the opportunity to experience psychodrama. We offer different directors each month and invite you to attend as often as you wish… to have as many tasters as you like. Join us and enjoy a safe, stimulating and confidential evening. There are no acting skills needed and participation is at your level of comfort.

Sylvia Israel, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT mfc31245), Certified Psychodrama Trainer, Educator and Practitioner (TEP) Registered Drama Therapist/Trainer (RDT/BCT), Founding Member of Bay Area Moreno Institute, and Founder/Past-Director of Bay Area Playback Theatre. Sylvia teaches at the CA Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and maintains a private practice with individuals, couples, and families in San Francisco and Marin.

John Olesen, MA, TEP, teaches in the INSAM certificate program at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. He is the Clinical Supervisor of the Shanti L.I.F.E. Program (Learning Immune Function Enhancement), a PNI-based experiential intervention for HIV+ people. He was the former Chair of the National Board of Examiners for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama.
