Marin County Updates Community Homelessness Plan

Marin County's Homeless Policy Steering Committee has embarked on a community process to update Marin's 10 Year Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.

Marin County’s Homeless Policy Steering Committee has embarked on a process to update Marin’s 10 Year Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness. The committee is a collaborative group of community residents, county staff, city representatives and community providers working together to develop strategies to address homelessness in Marin.

The first plan was drafted in 2006.  Since this time, thanks to the outstanding efforts of our community providers and the County over 80% of the plan’s objectives have been met. It is time to build a new plan and address many of the new problems that have developed since the economic downturn in 2008.  Marin also has to meet federal expectations, which place strong emphasis on how well our community is doing in relation to reducing homelessness.

The plan’s update will be developed through a series of community meetings and a charrette week. Charrette denotes an intensive and rapid planning process with opportunities for immediate feedback to planners.  Marin’s charrette week will jumpstart and streamline how the Marin community updates its plan to end homelessness. Interested members of the community are welcome to attend all of the scheduled meetings.
