Marin County Receives $300,000 State Employment Grant

The Marin Employment Connection's grant will provide career counseling, basic skills preparation, job search assistance, and vocational training to help laid-off workers

A state Employment Development Department (EDD) grant of more than $300,000 will open the way to careers in high-growth industries for 70 unemployed workers in Marin County.

The Marin Employment Connection (MEC) will use the $334,363 grant funding for Project Assist.  The grant funded project will provide career counseling, basic skills preparation, job search assistance, and vocational training to help laid-off workers transition into positions in high-growth industries such as healthcare, finance, and accounting.

“We are pleased that the State of California has provided additional resources to assist workers who have been laid off in Marin,” stated Racy Ming, Department of Health and Human Services, Employment and Training Program Manager/Workforce Investment Board Director.  MEC’s goal is to support a thriving, diverse workforce in our community by connecting residents and employers to the resources they need.
