Full Marin Homeless Report Released
Marin County releases full report on 2011 Point in Time Homeless Count. The final report is available online.
The biennial Point in Time Homeless Count was conducted on Jan. 27 by , in collaboration with various community agencies and homeless service providers. This county-wide, one-day census is a snapshot of persons experiencing homelessness and those who are at risk of losing their housing. Preliminary count results were released in April, and the final count is now available. A full report detailing final count is available on the right.
Count results reveal a decrease in the number of people in sheltered, unsheltered and other homeless populations from 1,770 in 2009, to 1,220 in 2011 However, final count results indicate the number of people precariously housed increased 38 percent from 3,028 in 2009 to 4,179 in 2011 (a preliminary finding of 4,103 precariously housed had previously been reported).
