Windy Weather Leaves Hundreds Without Power in Marin

Gusts reached nearly 60 miles per hour last night in Woodacre, bringing down trees and knocking out power to many in Marin, but few PG&E customers in San Rafael.

 

Hundreds of residents thoughout Marin are without power this morning following strong overnight winds that caused outages across the Bay Area.

San Rafael was largely spared any outages (PG&E is just reporting five customers without power in Santa Venetia).

PG&E's outage map is reporting five outages in Fairfax that have left 66 customers in the dark. There are also 14 customers without power in Ross and eight customers out in Lagunitas- Forest Knolls.

Pacific Gas & Electric reports there were 11 outages in Mill Valley, impacting 138 customers, that occured at 12:04 a.m. Monday. There were also four outages in Tam Valley at 8:26 a.m. affecting 61 customers. The outages are awaiting assessment, and there's no estimate at this time as to when power will be restored.

In West Marin, Inverness has 270 PG&E customers without power and Bolinas has 4 outages impacting 119 customers. 

Peak gusts reached nearly 60 miles per hour in Marin, and 75 miles per hour in San Francisco, according to the National Weather Service.

Windy weather was expected to continue throughout Monday in San Rafael, with a forecast of 24 mph winds, according to The Weather Channel.
