Third Consecutive Spare the Air Day Declared

Air quality district urges residents to drive less and reduce power usage.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued a Spare the Air alert for Wednesday — the third consecutive day this week.

Air district officials are encouraging Bay Area residents to drive less and limit home energy use to reduce pollution levels.

"This late seasonal hot spell is expected to create conditions for  unhealthy air quality for the third day in a row," Jack Broadbent,  executive officer of the air district, said in a statement.
