Crash North of San Rafael Causes Traffic Mess on 101

Big rig overturned, backs up goes for miles

 

All lanes of southbound U.S. Highway 101 were opened at about 12:50 p.m. after a crash blocked lanes at the Marinwood exit on Highway 101 south of Novato.

The accident involved  an overturned big-rig, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The crash was reported at about 11:30 a.m. just north of Miller Creek Road.

The overturned tractor-trailer forced the closure of all southbound lanes except the far left lane, CHP Officer Nicole Pacheco said. The driver of the big-rig, the only vehicle involved in the accident, suffered moderate injuries.

Traffic was backed up to Atherton Avenue in Novato shortly after 1 p.m.
