Nighttime commuters beware. Beginning Sunday night, Caltrans will begin repaving the segment of Interstate 580 that runs through San Rafael and replacing some of the guard rails.

Crews will close lanes between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. weekdays for about a month beginning with preparation work July 31. At least one lane will remain open during construction hours.

The westbound onramp from San Quentin near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge also will be closed at various times. The project limits are from the west end of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to the 580/101 interchange.
