Child Porn Raids in Terra Linda, Novato, Fairfax, Larkspur & Bolinas

Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children task force conducted searches this morning, resulting in arrests. More searches of Marin homes will continue this afternoon and include residences in Larkspur and Bolinas.

The Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children task force has been serving warrants in Marin County today and so far has arrested three people on suspicion of downloading child pornography, police said.

The county-wide operation was planned to include searches today in San Rafael, Novato, Fairfax, Bolinas and Larkspur, according to Lt. Keith Heiden of Novato Police Department.

Local police and federal agents have been coordinating with each other to serve search warrants at the homes of people suspected of downloading and possessing child porn, San Rafael police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

Up to seven warrants are being served in Novato and San Rafael today, and more arrests could be made throughout the day, Rohrbacher said.

Novato Police searched a home on both Aaron and Lark Courts today, resulting in one arrest of a 16-year-old boy for possession of child pornography, Heiden said.

Fairfax Police arrested one man on Cascade Drive, the Marin Independent Journal stated.

The federally funded Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children task force was established in March of 2003.

The task force has an eleven-county responsibility including: Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito.

The task force works with the FBI and the US Postal Service, investigating child pornography and cases of child exploitation or abuse that result from contact over the Internet.
