Andersen Drive 5-Day Road Closure Starts Next Week

Andersen Drive at Du Bois will be closed so city officials can repair a bump from the sewer line crossing under the street. See where the detour will be.

Andersen Drive at Du Bois will be closed for five days next week in order to repair a bump from the sewer line crossing under the street, according to City Manager Nancy Mackle.

The intersection will be closed to all traffic starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 7 through to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 11.  During this 5 day closure, traffic will be detoured on Rice Drive to Francisco Boulevard West or on Irwin Street to Woodland Avenue and Bellam Boulevard.

The whole area is on Bay mud, and the sewer is supported by a pile foundation, while Andersen has a standard street foundation, Mackle explained in her city blog. Andersen has settled more than the sewer, resulting in the bump.  The street pavement  on either side of the sewer will be removed and raised to smoothly transition over the sewer.
