Do You Love Baking and Pastries?? Our local San Rafael kitchen is looking for a qualified Pasty Assistant. The Pastry Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Pastry Chef with the timely production of quality pastries, desserts and breakfast items. The perfect candidate will work in a large, well equipped kitchen. Position requires lifting, standing and walking for extended periods of time, as well as other continual physical activity, including stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending etc.
Pastry Assistant Duties May Include... Helps prepare ingredients for desserts, baked goods and continental breakfast. Determines type and amount of food and supplies (i.e. condiments, spices, other flavorings) for assigned menu item(s) Maintains work area on a safe, healthy and sanitary condition. Plans, bakes and portions all food items for the weekday continental breakfast and pastries for Sunday brunch. FIFO (First in, first out.) Ensures the proper rotation of food products. Follows all safety, sanitation and cleanliness requirements adheres to safe and healthful work practices. Reports all product needs to the Pastry Chef or Executive Chef.
Equipment you will use: Stove, oven, proofer, mixer, pastry sheeter, steamer, meat slicer, kettle and other equipment necessary in pastry production.
The Right Candidate Will.... Possess basic knowledge of and experience in pastry and dessert production. Capable of producing a wide variety of attractively presented desserts and pastries. Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently during preparation. Ability to interpret and follow instructions, recipes, specifications and standards. Food Handler's Certification.
